![]() James Wilson Littell paints by the name of Jem Littell (a long favored nickname). After completing art school in Atlanta, he began his professional career in 1972. He has loved the outdoors all of his life. Therefore, capturing nature as it unfolded was a very natural sequence for him. Living in the northern foothills of South Carolina, his landscapes and close-up scenes are painted on location (plein air) in North and South Carolina. Painitng with pastels (powdered pigment sticks) rather than oils, he developed a unique impressionistic style. This style allows him an opportunity to capture the ever changing light, colors, shadows, and movements before him. Through his art, his goal is to capture for you the natural beauty that drew him to the scene in the first place. He hopes you will experience what he saw and felt as he prepared each piece. | ||||||||||||||||||
